VAN CLEEF & ARPELS Mystery Set Ruby and Diamond Half Hoop Earrings set in Platinum.

An important pair of half-hoops featuring calibré-cut rubies in the famous Mystery Set™ technique by Van Cleef & Arpels. Emblematic to the gem setting, a mosaic of color and light is brilliantly uninterrupted by any semblance of metal in the bombé design. The saturation of rubies is intensified against stark white diamond baguettes flanked on both edges, which frame the artful subject. In addition, the ear clips are topped off with an arc of round graduated diamonds.

Also known as 'serti mysterieux', the pioneering Mystery Set™ has been a trademark of the Maison since 1933. The proficiency and skillset required in fashioning the seamless work are known to be rare and time-intensive. Therefore, the Maison is said to create a limited amount of pieces per year - a practice Van Cleef & Arpels has implemented from inception to modern-day. This particular set of on-the-ear clips date from the 1960s and is the sum of almost 30 years in mastering their proprietary technique.

Each ear clip measures approx. 0.50" by 0.50". Ear clips are currently for non-pierced ears, however, posts can be added for pierced ears.
