The panther, an emblematic animal for Cartier, first appeared in 1914. Louis Cartier embraced this mythic creature, selecting it in tribute to his lover, Jeanne Toussaint, whom he affectionately called his "Petite Panthère." Toussaint, who famously wore a full-length coat made of panther fur, was known for her wild and untamable spirit, which helped turn the panther into a legendary symbol.
